Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The triennial FIGO World Congress is the most important international academic event in our specialty. I write to you on behalf of FIGO and the Scientific Programme Committee as we prepare for FIGO 2021.
The XXIII FIGO World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics is expected to host up to 8,000 delegates. It is being organised between 24 and 29 October 2021, in Sydney, Australia.
The President and Trustees of FIGO have tasked the Scientific Programme Committee with planning a congress programme that is richly scientific and academic, while also being inclusive, representative of FIGO’s diversity and global presence, and a showcase for work done in women’s health and rights.
It is our privilege to invite you to submit your proposals for pre-congress workshops, simulation labs and scientific sessions, which could highlight specific aspects and areas of your work in the service of women’s health and rights. The Scientific Programme Committee will review your submission and provide feedback before the end of the year.
During the 2021 World Congress, we will dedicate part of the Scientific Programme to abstract presentations. There is a limited number of places in the programme, and the final selection will be made at the discretion of the Scientific Programme Committee. Accepted abstracts will also be published as a supplement to FIGO’s International Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all ePoster and oral abstract presentations will be delivered virtually. There will be no in-person abstract presentations.
Please note that abstract presenters will be responsible for their own registration costs.
Each application should specify whether it is for an oral or ePoster presentation.
The Scientific Programme Committee may reassign submitted presentations between formats as per its discretion.
Only one presentation will be permitted by one designated presenter. There are no restrictions as to the number of abstracts submitted.
Abstracts submitted to other international meetings must not be submitted and will not be accepted.
The presenting author must be a registered congress delegate. Only the name of the presenting author will appear in the final congress programme.
The presenting author must declare any Conflict of Interest during the abstract submission process.
Language of Submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English.
Accepted abstract presenters will be given the option to present their abstract in either English, French or Spanish.
Category of Submission
The submission category for the abstract should be as per the official listing, which you can find on our website.
